March 2026: APA VOICE Issues Memo of Support for Fully Funded Statewide Office of the Census

APA VOICE is the largest coalition in New York State of Asian Pacific American non-profit organizations involved in civic engagement, including advocating for a complete and accurate 2030 Census. We strongly urge the New York State Legislature and Governor Hochul to include a minimum of $15 million in funding to support the creation of a Statewide Office of the Census in the final FY26 Budget. New York needs a strong, fully funded State Office of the Census to regain the loss of a Congressional seat in 2020 because of an undercount of 89 people and to not lose a projected two more congressional seats.
